E-invoicing is becoming mandatory across the EU, and most mandates point to the same European standard: EN 16931, usually exchanged as a UBL 2.1 XML file. The form above builds one for you, together with a human-readable PDF that matches it line for line. It's free, needs no signup, and nothing you enter is stored.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the legal name, VAT number, and full address for you and for your client. An e-invoice needs real, structured addresses
  2. Add an invoice number and your line items at their net price
  3. Check the VAT rate. For a business client in another EU country, tick reverse charge (you'll be prompted when it looks like it applies)
  4. Optionally add the IBAN you want to be paid on and a buyer reference
  5. Download the UBL XML for your client's system, and the PDF for humans

What makes it a valid e-invoice

The file is built by the same engine that generates every e-invoice in Billebly, and it checks the EN 16931 business rules before anything is created. If something's missing, it tells you exactly what, for example a missing VAT number for a reverse-charge invoice, instead of producing a file your client's software would reject. It includes:

  • Seller and buyer with electronic addresses derived from their VAT number or email
  • A VAT breakdown per category: standard rate, reverse charge, intra-EU, or outside the scope of VAT
  • Totals that match the PDF to the cent
  • SEPA credit transfer details when you add an IBAN

What it doesn't do

This tool creates the e-invoice file; it doesn't send it over a delivery network such as Peppol. If your client requires delivery through a specific channel (Peppol in Belgium, an approved platform in France, KSeF in Poland, SdI in Italy), you'll need a provider connected to that channel. See where e-invoicing is mandatory for the current state across the EU.

Every Billebly invoice is already an e-invoice

With a free Billebly account you don't have to fill in this form again: every invoice and credit note you send comes with a valid EN 16931 UBL file attached, and you can bulk-export them all for your accountant. See EU e-invoicing in Billebly.
