EU e-invoicing software (EN 16931 / UBL)

EU countries are rolling out e-invoicing mandates one by one, and most of them point back to the same standard: EN 16931, the European semantic data model for electronic invoices written by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) under Directive 2014/55/EU (opens in a new tab), and most commonly exchanged as UBL 2.1 XML. Italy, Belgium, Croatia, and Poland already require e-invoices between businesses, Germany and France are phasing them in through 2028, and the EU's ViDA directive (opens in a new tab) extends them to cross-border B2B sales from July 2030. If you invoice EU clients, "just send a PDF" is quietly becoming not enough. See which countries require what, and from when. Billebly builds a real EN 16931 e-invoice for every invoice you create, with no separate tool and no extra step.

What you get

• A UBL 2.1 XML file for every invoice, generated automatically and structured to the EN 16931 standard: seller and buyer identifiers, a proper VAT category breakdown per line (standard-rated, zero-rated, reverse-charged, exempt, or outside the scope of VAT), and the totals a compliant e-invoice needs.
• Delivered automatically, and exportable in bulk. The XML file is attached alongside the PDF in the emails your client already receives - no extra step on your side. Your own copies of every e-invoice are one click away from Settings → Export, bundled as a single ZIP for your bookkeeping or your accountant. It's not something a payer needs to hunt for or download themselves; the PDF is all they ever see.
• Credit notes in the same format. If you need to correct an invoice after the fact, issue a credit note straight from it, in a couple of clicks. It defaults to a full credit mirroring every line on the original invoice, and it's just as EN 16931-compliant as the invoice it corrects - emailed to your client the same way, with its own bulk export too.

What this doesn't cover (yet)

Billebly generates the compliant document itself; it doesn't transmit invoices over the Peppol network for you. If your client's own e-invoicing setup requires Peppol delivery specifically, you'll still need to hand the XML file across yourself for now. The same goes for countries whose mandates prescribe a delivery channel: Peppol in Belgium, an approved platform in France, KSeF in Poland, and SdI in Italy all need a provider connected to that channel.

Getting started

E-invoicing is included in the free core product - there's no separate plan or add-on fee for it. Create and send an invoice as you normally would, and the EN 16931 e-invoice is already on its way with it - bulk-download your own copies any time from Settings → Export.
